'An artist's point of view' - Hugh Tuckerman about getting inspiration in Venice

Painting holidays in Venice were amongst the most succesful Flavours holidays in 2013. There seems to be something unique about this Italian city that becomes such an art inspiration! We decided to find out more and interviewed Flavours painting holidays tutor Hugh Tuckerman. Let's read what Hugh has to say:

Venice, very rightly, is one of the must visit cities in the world.  A Flavours' painting holidays guest, visiting Venice for the first time summed up the cities spectacular impact, she was virtually speechless - as we travelled down the Grand Canal all she could continually say was 'Wow!, Wow!'.  It certainly is a city with an incredible 'Wow' factor.

From the artists point of view, Venice holds a very special place being at the heart of the Italian Renaissance art and architecture. No matter how often we have visited Venice there are always new and exciting places to discover that can inspire the painter. As some Flavours' guests find the scrutiny of the public in busy public areas such as St Mark's Square intimidating we have found Venice to offer quiet and secluded areas by the canals that lend themselves perfectly to creative sketching and painting. The only complaint I hear from our guests is that they would like to spend more time exploring and working from the Venetian views, this is not so much a complaint but an endorsement of Venice as a centre of culture and an inspirational place to visit.
